As part of our current gallery exhibit, CROWN: A Celebration of Black Hair, we are pleased to present a special Hair Show by the talented Mannette Dione. The Multicultural Arts Center will come alive with a dazzling celebration of culture, creativity, and community at the Crown Hair Show, an event dedicated to honoring the beauty and legacy of Black hair. From 8 PM to 11 PM, guests are invited to immerse themselves in a vibrant evening of live exhibitions, artistry, and celebration.
This is not just a show—it’s a party! The night will feature stunning Black hair models styled by the talented Mannette Dione, showcasing the artistry and diversity of Black hair. Guests can enjoy live hair demonstrations, witness the creation of art through live painting, and dance the night away with beats provided by the incredible DJ Kenworth. Vendors will also be on-site, offering unique products, including jewelry and haircare essentials. The event will also include an intimate live hairstyling demonstration.
Artistic Director Najee Brown shared his inspiration for the evening stating, “Black hair is a crown, a symbol of beauty, creativity, and resilience. For centuries, it has been a canvas for expression, a source of pride, and a target of misunderstanding. With Crown, we reclaim that narrative, focusing on the joy, love, and artistry that Black hair represents.”
Dress to impress, bring your dancing shoes, and come ready to celebrate! While this is a celebration of Black hair, all are welcome to join in the joy, learn, and experience the beauty of this cultural legacy.
