Our Venue

 

The Multicultural Arts Center is conveniently located in bustling East Cambridge. Perfect for any occasion, our distinct venue includes a theater, a gallery, and a kitchen available for weddings, private parties, and corporate and non-profit events. Originally designed by renowned architect Charles Bulfinch, this Victorian-style building was built in 1989 as part of the Middlesex County Courthouse Complex.

Theater

The two-story theater accommodates approximately 150 people for a seated dinner with room for a small dance floor area, or 200 people for a standing reception.​

Gallery

Located on the second floor and featuring a rotation of local artists, the gallery accommodates 40-50 people seated.

Courtyard

The gorgeous courtyard in Centanni Park is a beautiful location for a ceremony or just for passive enjoyment. It can comfortably accommodate 150 or more seats. The City of Cambridge and Bulfinch Square maintain this park, providing mums in fall and begonias in spring, and trumpet vines grow more beautiful each year along the arbor.

Backstage Dressing Rooms

Two spacious backstage dressing rooms called Studio A and B provide a quiet place to get dressed or simply have a moment to relax. Each includes tables, chairs, privacy curtains, mirrors, clothing racks, and a speaker to play music. There are also restrooms available for private use near the dressing rooms.

This Victorian treasure was built in the late 1800s and originally served as the Middlesex County Courthouse. The main room has been lovingly restored and has an exquisitely embellished ceiling. In warmer months, the ceremonies may be held in Centanni Courtyard. This airy, outdoor space continues the historic feel with large arbor and brick pathways."

Venue rentals include use of Theater, the Gallery, kitchen, green room, Centanni Hallway and two second-floor Studios with private restrooms. The Centanni Courtyard is also available as granted by City of Cambridge ($50 permit fee).

We welcome weddings, corporate, celebrations of life, or other private events to the Multicultural Arts Center. Funds from these events are important in supporting our mission of creating inclusive and accessible performing and visual arts programming.

  • Monday – Thursday: $375/hour for 4-8h rentals | $150 / additional hour beyond 8 hours
  • Friday and Saturday: $6,900 / 8hr day | $150 / additional hour
  • Sunday: $5,600 / 8hr day | $150 / additional hour

*Note: Weddings can only be scheduled for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

We welcome non-profit functions to the Multicultural Arts Center, such as galas, fundraisers or networking events. The following rates apply for all seven days of the week:

  • $375/hour for 4+ hour events
  • $2200 / 8 hour day | $150 / additional hour beyond 8 hours

Our gallery space is available for rental on weekday evenings for private meetings or gatherings.

$100/hour for events without refreshments | $200/hour for events with refreshments.

Rental window must include 1 hour for set up and 1 hour for breakdown.
