Multicultural Arts Center Presents:

Robert Sapiro: From Away

October 26 2024

8:00PM

“From Away” is a thought-provoking and humorous exploration of manhood in current America, as seen through the eyes of Robert Sapiro, a white man raising a white son in an increasingly complex world. With a blend of humor and heart, Sapiro dives into critical topics such as race, misogyny, and identity, offering a candid perspective that is as enlightening as it is entertaining.

Robert Sapiro, born and raised in Maine, is not only a natural comedian but also an administrator at Green Acre A Baha’i for Learning, where he focuses on fostering meaningful conversations across communities. As a father and grandfather, Sapiro’s life experiences make him a powerful and essential voice in the Seacoast community. He is also the co-founder of the Sea Change Conference, where his expertise lies in bringing diverse groups of artists together to build strong, united communities.

Though his roots are in Maine, Robert raised his children in the Cambridge area for many years and has always considered this place home. His deep connection to the community adds a special layer of authenticity to his performance, making “From Away” particularly resonant for local audiences.

The title “From Away” plays on a common saying in Maine used to describe outsiders to the state. Through this lens, Sapiro invites the audience to reflect on what it means to belong, to be an outsider, and to engage with the world around them in meaningful ways.

Audiences attending “From Away” can expect more than just a night of comedy—they will experience a transformative journey. Sapiro’s storytelling will not only entertain but challenge the way you think about critical issues. You will leave the theater with a new perspective, inspired to engage more deeply with the world and the people around you.

Doors open at 7:30 pm. Event begins at 8pm.
